Funding Libraries and the Arts
The A.N.D.Y. Foundation wants to provide Kansas teachers and librarians with opportunities to fund their classrooms and make a difference in the lives of their students. Kansas ranks 30th in the nation for education funding with threats to funding at the federal and state level happening all the time. It's time we start showing up for them like they show up for their students.
According to 2024 Kansas state testing, two-thirds of all Kansas students read at or below their grade level.
Kansas Educators are Underpaid and Overworked
Just like teachers deserve more support, students deserve education for creative passions. Students that have access to art and music education are 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement and are 5 times less likely to drop out when they have access to art and music education. Because of the necessity of these topics, the A.N.D.Y. Foundation strives to provide educators with supplies and funding for during and afterschool projects.
The A.N.D.Y. Foundation seeks to give Kansas school and classroom libraries a shopping spree to ensure students have high-quality, preferred books to encourage a lifelong joy of reading.
